The Ivor Strong Bridge’s east approach slab was recently completed. This is a structural component used at the ends of a bridge to provide a smooth transition between the bridge deck and the adjacent roadways. The bridge deck’s concrete barriers were also poured in December 2025.

What’s Ongoing?
Bridge Superstructure
Work on the superstructure has been focused on constructing the bridge’s moment slab, this is an important structural component that stabilizes the bridge. Moment slabs are designed to resist bending movements and distribute loads from the barrier into the bridge deck or supporting structure. They also assist in stabilizing the barrier to prevent vehicles from leaving the bridge in the event of an accident, protecting both occupants and the surrounding environment.
