Bridge Opening

On July 25, 2026, the Ivor Strong Bridge successfully opened to traffic marking a major milestone for the project.

What’s Ongoing?

Rehabilitation of the Existing Ivor Strong Bridge
Following the transition of southbound traffic onto the new bridge, rehabilitation of the existing Ivor Strong Bridge is now ongoing. Changes to traffic configurations will continue as different areas of the bridge are worked on.

Slope Protection Work
Slope protection work is ongoing on the west side of the Ivor Strong Bridge. This involves stabilizing and protecting the ground around the bridge embankment to help prevent erosion. Embankment protection will help protect the bridge infrastructure, enhance long-term durability, and support safe operation over the lifespan of the bridge.
