SPRING 2025 CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Construction is ramping up for the busiest season this project has seen. To date, the project has accumulated 513,707 manhours and is currently employing 211 personnel across various disciplines. As the project advances into subsequent phases, workforce numbers are expected to increase in the coming months to meet construction demands. A total of 1,254.91 linear metres of pipe for storm drainage was installed across the project area this spring.
Girder Delivery and Installation on Structure 3
The delivery and installation of girders for the new southbound bridge over the exit from Anderson Road / Bow Bottom Trail to northbound Deerfoot (Structure 3) was completed in March of 2025. This bridge structure required the installation of six precast concrete girders, each measuring two meters tall and weighing approximately 73,000 kg.
Bridge Deck Construction on Structure 3
Bridge deck construction including rebar, bearing installation activities is ongoing on Structure 3 to prepare for the concrete pour later this summer.
Girder Installation at Structure 1
Girder installation at Structure 1 on northbound Deerfoot Trail began on April 30, 2025, and was completed on May 1, 2025. Eight girders, each 50 metres long, were installed in this new structure and are the longest precast girders used in this project.
Substructure Work Completed on Structure 2
Substructure work, including piling and pier works, has been completed on the new bridge from northbound Deerfoot Trail to westbound Anderson Road (Structure 2). Retaining wall activities started at east and west abutments early May and will continue over the summer. The structural steel fabrication started early May for the girders that will be installed later this fall.
