Removal of the in-river berm on the west side of the river at Ivor Strong Bridge will begin the week of March 16, 2026. Some of the construction activities associated with this removal will include berm excavation for cofferdam removal, secant pile removal, concrete breaking and processing, backfilling the excavated area, and hauling materials from the site.
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
OVERNIGHT WORK
Once begun, this activity will require crews to work 24 hours a day until the berm is completely removed.
TIMELINES
Berm removal activities will begin the week of March 16, 2026, and are expected to be completed by mid-May 2026.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
Residents in nearby areas may notice increased noise and dust from demolition and concrete pile removal, material hauling, and excavation activities. Water trucks will be on-site to mitigate dust.
There will be temporary disruptions to the pathway while equipment crosses the affected pedestrian route. Flaggers will be on site to assist and direct pedestrians when machinery is moving across or near the pathway. Pedestrians are asked to follow all posted signage and flagger instructions and use caution when travelling through the area.
Please be mindful of and obey onsite signage and traffic accommodations. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to complete these complex, multi-year improvements.
