Phase 2 of girder installation on Structure 2 on Deerfoot Trail at the Anderson Road/Bow Bottom Trail intersection is scheduled to begin the weekend of January 18, 2026.
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
LANE RECONFIGURATION
Due to the space required for cranes, lifting equipment, and safety buffers, temporary lane realignment is required. Lane realignments will occur in two parts. See maps below for further details.
Part 1: Northbound traffic on Deerfoot Trail will be shifted to the southbound lanes for the first part of the girder installation.
Part 2: Following Part 1, the lane configuration will shift the southbound lanes to the northbound lanes to allow girder erection to be completed.
OVERNIGHT WORK
Installation of girders will be performed during nighttime hours (9 pm – 6 am) to minimize traffic disruptions.
ANTICIPATED IMPACTS
Residents in adjacent areas may hear noises related to heavy lifting equipment, such as cranes and trucks operating to position and secure girders; metal-on-metal contact during girder placement and bolting; backup alarms on construction vehicles for safety compliance; and occasional impact sounds from alignment adjustments.
Efforts will be made to mitigate the impact of noise and dust on this area.
TIMELINES
The work is scheduled to start the weekend of January 18, 2026, and is expected to last approximately two weeks.
SPEED REDUCTION
Speed reductions will be implemented throughout the work zones. For your safety, please obey onsite signage and posted speed limits.
